- The American College of
Managed Care Medicine (ACMCM) was founded in 1995 by a concerned group of
physician leaders. Their backgrounds from managed care, academia, and
clinical practice, were directed towards helping patients obtain the best
care possible as members of managed care plans. As a 501(c)6
not-for-profit membership society, ACMCM is guided by a distinguished
National Advisory Board from managed care, academia, and clinical
practice. ACMCM's mission is to help any health care professional through
education, research, and member service. The ACMCM is committed to change
health care delivery so that long term success, efficacy, and practice
productivity flourish under the paradigm of managed care medicine.
- The signature effort of the
ACMCM is its educational programs for physicians and other health care
professionals. To that end, it offers a series of courses that prepare
candidates for a rigorous examination given by the American Board of
Managed Care Medicine. Successful candidates are awarded a
certification in managed care and the privileges that go with it. In 1999
the ACMCM started a Fellows program to further recognize excellence in a
health care professional's commitment to the precepts and practices of
managed care medicine.
- It is the vision of ACMCM to
establish managed care medicine as a viable practice specialty. ACMCM
recognizes that today the application of managed care philosophies and
practices are significant influences causing the roles of practitioners to
change, but they are also influences offering great opportunities for new
practice success, satisfaction and improvement in patient care for those
equipped to accept the challenges these changes bring.
